Delicious & Good For You! Golden Turmeric Latte

In an effort to get a better night’s sleep I decided to give hot milk before bedtime a try and failed miserably! I don’t know what it is about the taste and the smell of hot milk but I just can’t bring myself to drink it.

Hot chocolate and lattes, no problem at all but neither are a good idea before bed, hot chocolate for its sugar content and latte because of the caffeine so I thought I’d give turmeric a try.

Turmeric, especially its most active compound curcumin has been proven to have natural anti-inflammatory properties and is a powerful antioxidant. Now mix that with the milk and add a touch of cinnamon, ginger and black pepper and you not only have a very healthy drink but you also have a drink that tastes divine and looks like liquid gold! 

Golden Turmeric Latte For 2

Ginger (1 inch)

Turmeric (1 inch)*

2 cups of milk (or non dairy milk of your choice)

½ tsp cinnamon powder

Pinch of black pepper

Touch of honey or maple syrup (optional)

Blend all the ingredients in a blender until smooth and then pour the ingredients into a pan and heat it.

Pour into two cups and sprinkle some cinnamon powder on top (if you like cinnamon as much as I do) and enjoy!

*If you don’t have fresh turmeric you can use a teaspoon of ground turmeric.
