Affirmations
In our everyday life we rarely give enough thought to what we really want or what we want our lives to be like. Even if we do think about it we think about all the things that could go wrong or get in the way of our desires that subconsciously we talk ourselves out of it thinking it’s never going to happen or what’s the point? This is why affirmations are so important.
An affirmation is a positive statement of what we want and you would think it would be easy to put your wishes and desires into a succinct sentence but it’s a lot harder than you think.
We’re conditioned to focus on negative thoughts and these negative thoughts can become imprinted in our subconscious. Affirmations, when repeated throughout the day can have the same effect but in a positive way. Repeating positive statements and really believing in what you’re saying can have a positive effect on your mind and what it is you desire or want to achieve.
Keeping affirmations short is key as they need to be repeated and they have to be a statement of something that is true. Although what you’re affirming may be a wish or a desire when we affirm something we’re affirming that we already have what we want. So we have to think carefully about the words we use. Instead of saying “I am going to find the job of my dreams’ or ‘I am going to be in a perfect relationship’ you say ‘I have the perfect job’ or ‘I am in a happy, committed relationship’
‘I am’ and ‘I have’ are really powerful, positive statements and repeating these positive statements helps you focus your mind on what you want and helps you get positive results.
